SpaceFoam’s Partnership with NMSI
SpaceFoam™ has launched an ongoing Gift to the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) to help expand their “Laying the Foundation” program. SpaceFoam™ and NMSI believe STEM education is critical to fostering innovation and driving economic prosperity for America’s youth.
NMSI's CEO is Dr. Bernard Harris, the first African-American astronaut to complete a space walk. "We’re working to ensure that every student has the knowledge and skills to thrive in today’s increasingly technology-driven society, and we’re excited to be partnering with SpaceFoam, who clearly understands our mission," says Dr. Harris.

About Laying the Foundation
SpaceFoam™ and NMSI believe quality STEM education starts with well-trained and well-supported teachers and we are working to expand NMSI's Laying the Foundation program in Greater Los Angeles. Delivered by best-in-class expert educators, “Laying the Foundation” builds on research-based strategies to help teachers raise the bar for student attainment and facilitate more sophisticated thinking and learning. This program allows teachers of grades 3-12 to build subject matter expertise, enhance their ability to lead diverse classrooms, master new technologies, and prepare students to be confident and highly creative problem solvers. To date, nearly 50,000 teachers nationwide have participated in “Laying the Foundation” and students taught by participating teachers scored significantly better on ACT Aspire™ math and reading assessments.
